Congratulations Pueblo West H.S.

This past Saturday was the Colorado 4A State Football Championships at Invesco Field at Mile High. The game was Pueblo West against Monarch High School (Louisville).
This game was one of the best games I have ever seen, with Pueblo West scoring on an 11 yard touchdown pass with 27 seconds to go, winning their first ever state football title by the score of 21-14.

Chris Slobodnik is on the coaching staff at P-Dub, and he had been telling anybody who would listen that this team was good; they were something special. They proved it Saturday!

My hats off to the Pueblo West football coaching staff and team. They beat a Goliath of a team in Monarch, who was previously undefeated and boasted the state's best defense (5.5 points allowed per game.)

To be the best, you have to beat the best, and in 4 of the Cyclones last 6 games, they beat previously undefeated teams, including Broomfield H.S. in the semi-finals who was also ranked 2nd in the state at the time.

Again, congratulations!

Pual, i was looking for pictures on google for our 4a state championship game, i played that game at the defensive tackle position #67. even though its a year too late and you probably wont even get to read this. all i want to do say is thank you for your support. we played that whole season without any respect from anybody. it is nice to see somebody outside of our football family realize what an accomplishment it really was. as a returning starter i thought that i would write this and thank you for the respect that we finally deserve. thanks once again and hope to see another one of your blogs november 30th
